What’s a guide? A Guide is a player who is trusted to handle tasks that not every player may be interested in dealing with during a weekend of play. They are still players and are allowed to portray their own characters without having to change how they approach the game.

They have a variety of potential roles at physical events, but while we are operating in an online format, the opportunities for assisting as a guide are as follows.

Applications Open!

We are opening applications so people can go after Guide roles that they are interested in. However, just because you have been awarded the permission to take on Guide tasks during an event, that does not guarantee you will be operating as a Guide during every event. Prior to our an event opening, Guides will be given a chance to sign up for available Guide time slots.

Any guide that successfully participated in the last event as a Guide, may select their Guide time slot before they have purchased a ticket for the event. If the Guide did not attend the previous event, they will need to purchase a ticket and register before they can sign up for a Guide time slot.

Requirements:

  • Active Player (You’ve played in at least one of the last 3 local games)

  • No current corrective actions

  • Local player (meaning your characters are assigned to Oklahoma)

  • Prioritize Local games over travel games

  • Do not abuse the perceived power of the role

Potential Guide Roles:

Coordination Guides

These folks help make sure that the Public Works room is functional and available for players. They have 4 hours that they are required to provide support for the Public Works room. During this time, they are allowed to roleplay in the various Discord rooms, but are not able to be actively engaged in a mod.

Settings Guides

During our online events, a Settings Guide will be responsible for portraying an NPC during a video enabled Discord session where they may be given story specific content to relate to other players. They will need to be in costume, and have an environment that is either sufficiently genre appropriate or at least lacking in non-genre elements.

Rules Guides

These Guides have a couple optional roles during the course of an online event. They may either run a single module, or help support at least 2 modules by providing a supporting Casted Character (NPC) for the various mods that are running that event.

Operations Guides

These folks run our modules and help facilitate the event. They are required to run one module, but may opt to run more if they choose to. Operations Guides are often recruited from the ranks of our other Guide roles. They are often given additional tasks to help make sure that the weekend story is successfully delivered to other players.

Benefits:

  • 40 CAPs per event attended

  • One Community Achievement awarded at 3 months service each year (reset at the end of December)
